Past Events: Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration/ Introduction of the Hopkins Club of Beijing Executive Committee/ Hopkins Club of Beijing Yahoo! Group

On January 19, the Hopkins Club of Beijing held its first event of 2006, a Lunar New Year celebration at the Chao Long Ge bar in Houhai. Approximately 45 alumni attended the gathering, including graduates from the Hopkins Nanjing Center, SAIS and other Hopkins schools.

At the event, Elizabeth Knup, former Hopkins Nanjing Center American Co-director and founder of the Hopkins Club of Beijing, made a short Happy New Year speech and introduced the new Hopkins Club of Beijing Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is composed of five Hopkins alumni:

Mr. Zhao Xiaoping, Hopkins Nanjing Center, 2001-2002

Mr. Nicholas Sheets, Hopkins Nanjing Center, 2002-2003; SAIS, 2005

Ms. Jin Shiwei, Hopkins Nanjing Center, 2003-2004

Mr. Wang Wen, Hopkins Nanjing Center, 2004-2005

Mr. Wang Boyong, SAIS: Bologna, 2001, D.C. 2002

The Executive Committee will be overseeing the day-to-day affairs of the club, while Elizabeth will continue to be involved with the club in an advisory role.

The Executive Committee will meet on a monthly basis, with meeting times and locations posted in advance. All are welcome to attend Executive Committee meetings, and we encourage alumni involvement in the planning of events. We look forward to hearing your ideas and working with you to make the club a success.
